Dear Claire Voyant,
I just submitted a bunch of applications – Any advice on dealing with anxiety?
Sincerely, Anxious
Dear Anxious,
First of all, now that you’ve submitted them, it’s out of your hands! The ball is in their court, and I know playing the waiting game can be agonizing. My advice to you is to get busy. Add the dates you’ll hear back from the schools/jobs in your calendar and plan something fun for that day. That way, no matter the outcome, you can get out and enjoy some sunshine.
I completely understand feeling anxious. Just remember that you are doing your best. My personal mantra is: if there’s something more I can do, then there’s no need to worry because I’ll do it. But if there is nothing more I can do, then it isn’t in my control and I have no need to worry (a little easier said than done, of course, but it’s a good thing to think of when those anxious thoughts are too much).
Sincerely, Claire Voyant
