In celebration, ok maybe not celebration. In commemoration of the sinking of the RMS Titanic we are sending a special reporter to duplicate the journey and see if they can avoid the monstrous iceberg. Ha, that’s funny. We don’t have that kind of money. Actually, we don’t have any money, not unlike a lot of the rest of you college students. So, if you can’t make it Belfast or London to celebrate the fall of the unsinkable ship, or the 3D ticket for the re-release of the synonymous 1997 flick, check out these links fo’ free, or with your roomate’s Netflix or Hulu Plus Account.
Titanic 2 “Titanic irony looms when the new luxury cruise liner Titanic 2, setting sail a century after the sinking of its ill-starred namesake, seems destined to come to a similarly soggy end when an ocean tsunami pushes an iceberg into its path. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration researcher Kim Patterson (Brooke Burns) and Coast Guard Capt. James Maine (Bruce Davison) lead the bid to save the giant ship and its passengers from annihilation.” (Netflix)
Chambermaid on the Titanic “Armed with a photo of a pretty chambermaid he met aboard the Titanic (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón), a French foundry worker (Olivier Martinez) returns home to share the titillating — and greatly embellished — story of how she asked to share his room. All the while, he suspects that his wife (Romane Bohringer) has been having an affair in his absence — and with his employer (Didier Bezace), no less. Bigas Luna directs this foreign-language drama.” (Netflix)
Titanica: IMAX (although how it is IMAX on your computer screen,we’re not sure) “Titanica follows a 1992 expedition to the wreck of the Titanic, the “unsinkable” luxury liner that collided with an iceberg and sank in 1912. Survivor Eva Hart’s memories add a human element to this documentary narrated by Leonard Nimoy. Combining beautifully preserved archival photography, Hart’s recollections and spectacular underwater footage of the shattered remains, Titanica brings to life a remarkable tale of history and human folly.” (Netflix, also a plus: narrated by Lenord Nemoy, also none IMAX on Hulu)
