On the evening of March 22, a police officer was reportedly shot in Little Five Points in Atlanta, GA. Latest reports stated that the Atlanta Police Department was on the street with machine guns. Pedestrian and automobile traffic have reportedly been shut down in this area.
UPDATE: 11Alive has reported that the officer in question was returning to his car when he heard gun shots. As he approached his patrol car, he was struck in the leg by a bullet. APD spokesperson Officer John Chafee reported that the shots came from the building and that the officer was not an intentional target. The officer is in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, and the Atlanta Police Department has made no arrests nor do they have any suspects in the shooting.
